Our Territory
what to do in the neighbourhood

Valdobbiadene is a small hill town, located in a strategic position halfway between Venice and the Dolomites, nestled in a land rich in nature, history, culture, art, sport and high quality enogastronomy all to be discovered. PHOTOGALLERY

Above all staying in Valdobbiadene gives you the chance to live the rural town life and get to know its hard-working people. Based in Le Zitelle di Ron the guests will be able to discover the territory, its straggling hills and abundant cycling routes (bicycles are available free of charge from the Agriturismo), undemanding walking routes e.g. to the church of St. Floriano with its balcony overlooking the town’s main square where you can enjoy a unique panorama or climbing up to Monte Cesen at 1500 m towering over Valdobbiadene and taking long walks (a nature guide can be booked on request) through alpine meadows decked out in flowers in May, sweet smelling woods and still active alpine farms where you can enjoy exceptional vistas (from certain vantage points the Lagoon of Venice can be seen) and the typical produce of our mountains. Changing direction you reach the Piave River in a few minutes drive from Valdobbiadene where you can visit the Settolo Basso Natural Park with its 5 km nature trail that allows you to immerse yourself in the environment with its flora and fauna so typical of this important river.

For history buffs, Valdobbiadene could be the starting point for a study of the Great War as this territory was one of main war theatres from 1917 to 1918. Even Le Zitelle di Ron still bears the scars: The family manor house was partially destroyed, as was the most part of town, in a bombardment raining down from Monte Grappa. One of the bedrooms was recovered from the remains. It only takes a short time to get from Valdobbiadene to Vittorio Venteto and to the war memorials of Monte Grappa, Montello and the Asiago plateau which together with the Piave River was the site of some of the most fiercely fought battles of the war.

Connoisseurs of art and culture will find Valdobbiadene a relaxing base to return to after busy days visiting Palladian Villas, the art works of Canova and Possagno, the splendid cities of the Venetian hinterland, Padua, Vicenza, Verona, Belluno, Bassano and Asolo all of which can be reached in less than a day’s travel. And for the gastronomes there is nothing better than slowly travelling along the Prosecco and Wine roads of the Conegliano and Valdobbiadene hills. This wine trail that crosses the straggling hills from Conegliano to Valdobbiadene is not only dappled with the by now famous vineyard vistas but also countless wineries, restaurants, wine bars and inns where you can indulge yourself in the Prosecco Superiore DOCG paired with all the local gastronomical delights. There are countless opportunities for the more sporting types: from long walks round the Prosecco ring to traditional mountain hiking from Valdobbiadene to Pianezze, from cycle paths marked Bicivacanza-Bicyletourism spread throughout the territory to open air swimming pools, from fishing clubs to the Asolo Golf Club which is one of the most famous golf courses in Europe and only a few kilometres from the centre of Valdobbiadene.

In Valdobbiadene and the surrounding area there is a great number of sporting events being held during the year:

– The Treviso Marathon
– Quattro Passi-Walking in the Prosecco Hills
– The Prosecco Run
– Prosecco Cycling
– The Marca Rally
